131st Passage

Blogging is daunting when you're so far behind. Better get started.

At the end of May the boys participated in a homeschool spelling bee.  They did it different than the normal spelling bees that have just one winner. There were four levels of spelling words. If you spelled ten correctly, you passed that level. If you didn't, you were still able to participate in the next level.

Here are the boys all lined up for the level one bee.
William heard the first few words wrong, so spelled different words correctly. They decided to get a microphone to the person listing off the words. William mostly did better after that, but he was eventually eliminated from level one for spelling "thun" instead of "fun." He got a couple rounds into levels 2 and 3. He did a good job.
Owen wanted to participate last minute, though he hadn't practiced much and is still learning to read. His first and only word was "just." He spelled it "gus." Haha.
Morgan did super awesome. He finished levels 1 and 2 and got to round 9 out of 10 in round 3, and even got a word right in round 4, which are high school level words. It was so fun to see him up there with just the bigger kids or adults left. (Some of the moms chose to participate in the higher levels.)

Here is a video of the words Morgan and William spelled. Some of them I didn't quite hit record soon enough.
