137th Passage

Owen turned six in November. Here are some pictures from his birthday.

We got him a B.B. gun since his older brothers got theirs when they turned 6.
David made Owen's cake. It's a helmet from the video game Halo.

Happy birthday, Owen!

136rd Passage

Here are some pictures of the first snow of the year in November. At least it was the first snow worth playing in.

Post-it #244

Owen is his own person. He got it into his head that a peanut butter, jelly, and mustard sandwich would be yummy. After failing to convince him that that would be gross, I let him make himself that sandwich. He claims that it's most delicious, and now every time we have a sandwich for lunch, he chooses to make himself a PBJ&M. And it's usually pretty heavy on the mustard.

162nd Passage

Morgan and William had a very special day in November. It made it even more special that they got to share it. They both turned eight, and they both chose to be baptized as members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. What a great day. I made some pretty big blunders though, such as forgetting to pack towels or even dry underwear for the boys!! Ugh! Mom fail.
David baptized both of them, confirmed William a member of the church, also giving him the gift of the Holy Ghost. Morgan chose to have his Grandpa Nelson confirm him.

The boys and I did the musical number for the program. We sang Teacher, Do you Love Me? but changed "teacher" to "mother".
They wanted to have their Uncle Cameron give the talk on baptism, and he did a great job.
A little girl from their primary class got baptized too. The program was great.
We got some family pictures with the boys in their new suits that they got from Grandma and Grandpa Martin.

After the baptism we went back to our house for the traditional family gathering. I really didn't plan well for this, not at all. I made a soup and asked my mom to make a soup, but that was all I planned! Christine brought some home made bread, luckily, but I had no dessert, and really not even enough soup, and I had to have my brother pick up some paper bowls on the way to our house. Oy.
But it was nice visiting with everyone.
The boys were supported by Grandma and Grandpa Martin, Uncle Chris, Aunt Christine, their five children, Uncle Cameron, Uncle Casey, and their cousins Anna and Matt. Also Nana Sugar. And Grandma and Grandpa Nelson, Aunt Chanel, and we even got lucky and the weekend of the baptism coincided with a visit from Morgan's great Aunt Teresa and Uncle Tony from California. Thanks all for your love and support for this special day in these two boys' lives!
Morgan and William both made comments about it being the best day of their lives. William said he almost cried during the blessing from David because he was so happy. We're very happy they've made this important decision.

Post-it #243

One day when we were doing school, Alli was in her high chair distracting us all with these crazy, cute, funny, faces. She was doing it to get laughs, and she got them.

161st Passage

November 6th Allison turned one!
Alli has been such a good baby. She is therapy for anyone having a bad day. Alli can always make you smile. I've never seen a baby who smiles so much! She is happy all the time, except when she's not. :) She can be pretty shy, but as long as she feels safe with mommy or daddy, she will give smiles to anyone around. Allison is also a very cautious baby when it comes to certain things, like walking. She is very nervous about the possibility of falling down and so won't try to stand without someone helping her, (until very recently).
When Alli goes to sleep she always strokes her hair. She likes hair. She loves her older brothers and sister, and they love her. She's quite the ham and will make funny faces, or crawl in a weird way, or hit her own head if she thinks it will make someone laugh. So lovable.

We've used an owl theme a lot for Allison, so it seemed fitting that her first birthday cake should also be an owl. I made it, but the frosting was a cream cheese frosting and very soft. Not stiff enough to do a great job. And it looked weird without ears, but I couldn't make them with soft frosting.

So I just used pink construction paper. Lol.
See how happy this birthday girl always is? This was the same outfit I put Lydia in for her first birthday.
 She had fun opening presents.

Then it was time for the cake smash!
She was funny. She got the cupcake and just picked it up and took a big bite and ate the entire thing rather systematically.
