2015 Camping compass treasure hunt

Before we went up camping we decided to make a treasure hunt for the kids.

My parents had many compasses which they donated for the cause. Each child would get their own compass to use and they would follow instructions that we mapped out to find sticks and pieces of wood that we marked with bailing twine. After they followed the directions and got all the wood, David helped them all to make a trebuchet.

Here's Grandpa showing the grandkids how to use the compasses.

Here the kiddos are following the directions and looking for the sticks. Some were better with the compass than others.

This was the last spot. Sticks and suckers awaited them.
Here they are all gathered to make the trebuchet.

And the video of all the hard work paying off...

2015 Camping Water Fun

There was a lovely creek right by our camping spot with shallow places to play and sandbars. The kids spent lots of time in their swimming suits.

We got a lovely family photo there. It was so beautiful!

One afternoon we also went to the reservoir. The water was pretty warm, but it was rather icky.

Camping 2015

For our annual Martin family campout last year we went to Frozen Springs campground, which is up past Anderson Ranch Reservoir. We'd camped there once or twice before and it's one of the best places we've found that's not too far away.

Here are a bunch of random photos from the campout.

Rain Gutter Regalia, 2015

The older boys got to participate in a Raingutter Regalia for cubscouts. I don't remember how they did over all, but they had fun.

Here's a video of the race when Morgan and William were matched up against each other. Close race!

David wanted to try his hand it at also, so he faced off with one of the other dads. I can't remember the outcome of that race either.

June 2015 summer fun

We got a tiny swimming pool last year. It was pretty popular for a month or two though.
Alli wore her diaper in the pool and it ended up looking all sollen like this.
We also got a couple new things to cook on over the fire. See?

We also got a gigantic frying pan. Perfect for cooking babies in.
